Laukote is a family-run winery located in Laguardia, in southern Álava, at the foot of the Sierra de Cantabria. This area is known as the Rioja Alavesa, and is home to some of the best denomination of origin wines in the world.
Bodegas Laukote is one of the smallest wineries in Álava, with only 8.5 hectares of vines, of which 7 are its own and most of those are old vines, with 90% of the vines producing the Tempranillo variety and 10% are Viura variety.
This winery strives itself on the total selection of its grapes, and markets its wine through five different brands: Laukote joven, Laukote Vendimia Seleccionada, BORG, Laukote blanco Fermented in cask and last of all, its new Tostados de Laukote, a sweet wine which is a pioneer in Spain for being the first wine produced using the French method known by the name of Sauternes.
