Bodegas Laukote is proud to present its new Tostados de Laukote wine.
This is a very high range sweet wine, a ground breaking wine on the mainland for being the first back in 2007 to be produced using the French Sauternes method. One of the oldest standing methods in Europe, which produces some of the very best sweet wines.
Tostados de Laukote is a very natural wine, with no added preservatives, protected by its own sugar. The secret behind the Sauternes method is the over-ripening of the grape due to the appearance of the Botrytis Cinerea, a microscopic fungus also known as grey mould, which evaporates part of the water from the grape providing a higher concentration of the remaining elements. If the weather conditions are ideal, the grape will shrivel up to become nearly dry, this is what we call ‘toasted grapes’.
